This summer, Year 3 have been working extremely hard on character and setting descriptions. We have recently started reading 'The Tunnel' by Athony Browne. We are learning how to improve descriptive sentences by adding rich vocabulary. Over the next few weeks, we will be writing our own setting descriptions.
Here is an example of us exploring adjectives at different parts of the story.
We have been incredibly hard in mathematics. So far we have been learning place value of 3 digit numbers. We have been mastering addition and subtraction using a formal column method. We will be spending the next few weeks learning a range of methods which will help us to divide and multiply. We have been exploring these new skills through lots of problem solving and reasoning questions. Towards the end of summer term 1 we will be multiplying using a grid method and dividing on a number line with remainders. Moving into summer 2, we will begin to focus on fractions.
So far this year, we have explored the UK, countries and counties. Paddington Bear took us on an adventure around the UK. We then learnt about the Earth in our ‘Active Earth’ topic. We studied the impact or earthquakes and volcanoes.
Summer has arrived and now we are learning about Biomes and their climates. We are thoroughly enjoying our new geography topic.
At the start of Year 3 we travelled back in time to the Stone Age to discover what life was like. Have a look at some of our best moments.
Art and Design
What an adventure we had hunting down sculptures in the North East as part of our art topic.
