English
Year 3 have been working extremely hard this term. We started our year reading 'The Tunnel' by Athony Browne. We then innovated this story and made it our own. We then focused our time learning about how to write instructions. Now, we all know how to wash a woolly mammoth! Autumn 2 was spent learning and performing 'The Owl and the Pussy-cat'. We loved it! Year 3 finished our term by stepping into the role of Father Christmas and writing a reply letter back to a Year 1 student.
Mathematics
We have been incredibly hard in mathematics. So far we have been learning place value of 3 digit numbers. We have been mastering addition and subtraction using a formal column method. We will be spending the next few weeks learning a range of methods which will help us to divide and multiply. We have been exploring these new skills through lots of problem solving and reasoning questions.
Spring 1
Volcanoes- What wakes a volcano?
Spring 2 and Summer 1-Roaming Romans
During this time we will explore many aspects of the Romans and will answer lots of questions. Who were the Romans? When did they invade Britain? Who led the Romans? etc. However, our BIG question is 'What did the Romans do for us?'
Reading
We love to read in Year 3! We enjoy reading a range of genres and have had lots of reading opportunities. We have visited the White Swan Centre and recently met an author.
