Welcome to Y5CS!
This term, we are 'Mapping the World!' We will be locating countries in Europe, North and South America. We will also be researching capital cities, comparing different cultures, calculating different time zones and comparing human and physical geography features.
Maths:
Since the beginning of the year we have been developing our knowledge of Multiplication and Division, Addition and Subtraction, Statistics, Place Value and Fractions. We have learned these strategies using a Mastery approach exploring problems working both independently and with peers.
The Terrifying Tudors!
Last half term, we studied a History topic all about Tudor England. We stepped back in time to research the various monarchs and created fact files for each one. We finished our topic by creating 'Top Trump' cards to compare the monarchs and decide which one we think is the most terrifying.

This year, we started our History and Geography topics with a Geography topic all about Rivers. We looked in depth at the River Tyne and River Thames comparing the lengths, features and composition of the rivers and we learned the features of a river.

In PE, we have been working on our Handball and Tennis Skills.
In French, we have studied sport and started to learn about body parts.
In Music, we are learning sign language versions of popular songs, so far we have practiced: Wonderwall and I'm still standing.
In Computing, we have studied how computers working looking at computational thinking and starting to develop code to complete a goal.
