Nursery
Admission to Nursery
Applications for a Nursery place should be made by contacting the school office on (0191) 8140970 or completing the Nursery admission form and emailing the form to: office@amberleyprimary.co.uk
School will then inform parents/carers by letter if they have been successful in gaining a place. If the school is unable to offer a place because of over-subscription, their name will be kept on a waiting list. If a place becomes available, it will be offered to the applicant on the waiting list who ranks highest in accordance with the published admission criteria.
There is no deadline for nursery admissions- you can complete the admission form from birth and your child will be added to the admissions list for the academic year that they are three years old.
Admission Policy for Nursery classes
The LA provides nursery education to three-year olds and four-year olds leading up to their statutory school starting age.
The over-subscription criteria for admission of pupils to a nursery class where demand is greater than places available is as follows in priority order:
Children with a statement of Special Educational Needs where the statement names the specific school will take priority.
Reception
Admission to Reception
Reception class places are allocated by the Local Authority. Please see the link in our admissions section of the website to find the key information and forms you will need for the application process.
Transition into Reception
Once your child has been offered a place at our school, they will be invited to spend a few hours in school to give them an opportunity to become familiar with their new surroundings. You will also be invited to an introduction meeting. If you are new to our school, this will give you an opportunity to meet the staff and see our provision. At this meeting, we will share basic information about starting school in September and some of the key routines. During the Autumn term, you will be invited to other sessions where we share information about supporting your child’s learning.
