Welcome to our Governors’ section.
What does the Governing Body do?
Amberley Primary School’s Governing Body is responsible for the strategic management of the school. This means that together the governors decide what they want the school to achieve, setting suitable aims and objectives, agreeing policies, targets and priorities; and monitoring all of these to ensure they are being achieved. For example, they are responsible for setting the values of the school, overseeing budgets, assisting with the recruitment of new staff and acting as a ‘critical friend’ to the Head Teacher.
How often does the Governing Body meet?
The Governing Body meets once every half term. In addition to this, governors also meet in a variety of working groups, including: Staffing and Finance; Premises; Health and Safety; Performance and Management. Each governor also has responsibility for one or more curriculum subject area.
